How Was Spinal Manipulation Discovered?
Chiropractic as we know it today originated in the early 1800s. The first spinal manipulation was done by Daniel David Palmer, who was a self-taught healer and practitioner. A worker at his facility explained to him that he had lost his hearing when he had bent over and his spine made a popping sound. Mr. Palmer hypothesized that his colleagues hearing loss must have had a correlation to the injury to his back. As he looked into this further, he began performing spinal manipulation and was able to cure his colleagues hearing loss.
